Deutschnofen / Nova Ponentesits on a plateau surrounded by meadows and forests. It has an unobstructed panoramic view onto the Dolomites. The mountain ranges encircle the village: Schlern, Rosengarten and Latemar are located to the east; Zanggen, Schwarzhorn and Weisshorn to the south. Across from the Etschtal plateau stretches the Mendelgebirge mountain range from west to north. And beyond that, you can make out the Ortler massif (with mountains over 4,000 m high) and even the Ötztal and Stubaital Alps.
